  • Educational Qualification:

 

For admission to the examination, a candidate must have –

(a) obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India

or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or

(b) passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or

(c) obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such

conditions as may be recognized by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or

(d) passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India);

or

(e) passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or

(f) passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959 Provided that a candidate for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’ may possess any of the above qualifications or the qualification mentioned below namely:-

For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engg. Posts) – M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless

Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’– M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics,

Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a subject or Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication or

Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.

 

  • Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:

(a)A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on

the 1st January, 2024 i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1994 and not later than 1st January, 2003.

(b) The upper age-limit of 30 years will be relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government servants of the following

categories, if they are employed in a Department/ Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1

below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which they

are otherwise eligible.

(i) A candidate who holds substantively a permanent post in the particular Department/Office concerned. This relaxation

will not be admissible to a probationer appointed against a permanent post in the Department/Office during the period of his

probation. However, this relaxation will be admissible to a probationer so appointed provided he/she already retains a lien on

a permanent post in a Department/Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below.

(ii) A candidate who has been continuously in a temporary service on a regular basis in the particular Department/Office

for at least 3 years on the 1st January, 2024.

How To Apply

(a) Candidates are required to apply online using the provided link: www.upsconline.nic.in. Prior to filling out the application, applicants must first register themselves on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, accessible through the Commission’s official website. This registration is a one-time process, valid for a lifetime. If a candidate is already registered, they can proceed directly to fill out the online application. 

(i) Modification in OTR Profile: Any changes to the OTR profile can be made only once in a candidate’s lifetime after the initial registration. This modification window will be available until 7 days after the closure of the application window for the first final application for any Commission examination. For candidates applying for the first time in this examination after OTR registration, the last date for modification is 03.10.2023.

(ii) Modification in Application Form (Other than OTR Profile): The Commission allows candidates to make corrections in any field of the application form after the closure of the application window for the examination. This correction window will be open from 27.09.2023 to 03.10.2023. If a candidate wishes to make changes in their OTR profile during this period, they should do so by logging into the OTR platform. It’s important to note that no changes to the OTR profile can be made through the application form modification window.

(b) Applicants are advised to submit only a single application. However, if a candidate submits another/multiple applications due to unavoidable circumstances, they must ensure that the application with the higher Registration ID (RID) is complete in all respects, including details, examination center, photograph, signature, and fee. The Commission will entertain only the application with the higher RID, and the fee paid against one RID will not be adjusted against any other RID.

(c) All candidates, whether currently employed in government service, government-owned industrial undertakings, or similar organizations, or in private employment, should apply directly to the Commission online. Candidates already in government service, regardless of their capacity, are required to inform their Head of Office/Department about their application for the examination. If the employer communicates to the Commission, withholding permission for the candidate to apply/appear for the examination, the application will be liable to be rejected or the candidature may be canceled.

(Note 1) When filling out the application form, candidates should carefully select their preferred center and engineering discipline for the examination. If a candidate appears at a center/engineering discipline other than the one indicated by the Commission on their E-Admission Certificate, their papers will not be evaluated and their candidature will be liable for cancellation.

(Note 2) Suitable provisions for information regarding the use of scribes by low vision candidates and candidates with locomotor disabilities, where the dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment), have been incorporated into the online application.

(Note 3) Incomplete or defective applications will be summarily rejected. No representation or correspondence regarding such rejections will be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates are not required to submit a hard copy/printout of their application to the Commission at this stage.

  1. Candidates applying for the examination must ensure they meet all the eligibility conditions for admission. Their admission at all stages of the examination (Written Examination and Personality Test) will be provisional, subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If, at any time before or after the written examination or Personality Test, it is found that they do not meet any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature for the examination will be canceled by the Commission. Candidates are advised to keep attested copies of the following documents ready for submission to the Commission soon after the declaration of the results of the written examination:

(a) Certificate of Age.

(b) Certificate of Educational Qualification.

(c) Certificate supporting the claim of belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) wherever applicable.

(d) Certificate supporting the claim for age/fee concession, wherever applicable.

  1. Successful candidates will be notified electronically by the Commission immediately after the declaration of the results of the Main/Stage-II Examination. They will be asked to submit the Detailed Application Form (DAF) online and upload scanned copies of the above-mentioned certificates to the Commission at that time. Originals will need to be produced at the time of the Personality Test. The Personality Test letter will also be issued electronically to the candidates.
